After launching an MVP onboarding, we noticed drop offs when creatives had to create their Fika “Explore” cards, crucial to unlocking the full Fika product experience. To understand where the friction was, we asked members about any challenges or points of confusion they encountered during onboarding, observed Clarity sessions and made incremental improvements to the onboarding experience.

As creatives joined Fika, it was essential they felt seen and understood—both in how their identities were represented and in what actions they could take within the experience. We learned that 72% of members completed onboarding on the web experience, especially given their creative information was on their laptops.

In the revised onboarding, members upload information from lowest effort, including contact information and favorite cafe, to highest efforts, uploading profile picture and project details. This ensured users didn't drop off in the Fika onboarding funnel.
